11/95 - Nos 12 and 13

- GV II

Pair of houses, probably one house originally. Early or mid C19, with later additions at rear. Rendered, solid walls. Asbestos-slated roof with overhanging eaves. Rendered brick chimney stack in each gable. 2 storeys. 3-window front with raised band at sill-level in second storey and rusticated cement quoins at each end of front. All except the left-hand ground-storey window have original 8-paned sashes and plain cement architraves. Doorway to No. 12 (probably the original front door) has beaded wood architrave; late C19 door, deeply recessed with narrow patterned fanlight above. Doorway to No. 13, and window immediately to left of it, appear to be late C19 replacements of an original window. The door has been altered in C20; the window is a 2-pane sash with horns. Rear wall has 2 original 8-paned sash windows in second storey. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.
