- II

Farmhouse. c.1500. Timber framed and plastered with pegtile roofs. Centre part of long, 2 storey complex, with C20 extensions at east and west ends. To the east is an 'L' shaped block with gable to the north front and to the west a block with higher ridge line and hip to the western end. This has a large red brick stack against the northern side. The centre, late medieval part, has a mid C17 gabled rear extension block with a large stack through its ridge line. a further large rectangular stack rises through the north front roof slope, adjoining the western crosswing. Windows are C20 metal casements with leaded lights and a large gabled C20 porch projects from the east end of the centre block. This is a former 'long-wall jetty' house of 3 bays with remains of a crown post roof and jowled posts with arch braces to the tie beams. Scarf joints are halved and bridled and there is a large C17 inglenook fireplace beneath the rear stack. One arched door head remains probably that to a former parlour.
