Villa. Early C19 with an earlier, probably C18, service wing. Rendered stone rubble and brick, the service wing partly stud construction ; 2 span hipped slate roof with very deep eaves on eaves brackets, 2 lateral stacks to the front, one (with the shaft dismantled) to the rear of the main block. Plan: Double depth main block, rectangular on plan with the main entrance on the east side into a passage. A single depth range adjoining at the north is earlier and appears on C18 estate maps (information from owner) and single-storey outbuildings to the rear of this wing form a small courtyard to the north of the main block. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2:3 window front (3 windows to the service wing at the right). The main block has a central panelled front door with a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars ; 2-leaf window above onto a small balcony on moulded brackets with an ornamental cast iron balustrade. 12-pane first floor C19 sash to the right with simple iron railing above the sill. The service wing has C19 small pane timber casements and a C19 plank and cover strip door. The symmetrical south elevation, facing the garden, is 3 bays, 16-pane C19 sashes to left and right, 12- pane sash in the centre all with sun hoods carried on ornamental timber trellis brackets. 4-pane sashes to the first floor with louvred sun shutters. The west elevation has a C19 French window with margin glazing and a similar sun hood on brackets, 2-light C19 small pane casement to the left, 2 first floor 3 over 6 pane sash windows with simple iron railings above the sill. Interior: Not thoroughly inspected but includes original joinery and a stick baluster stair. The roof may post-date the early C19 house as earlier, shorter, eaves brackets were found behind the present brackets during renovations (information from owner). A handsome early C19 house with unusual and attractive external detail. '
