STOKEINTEIGNHEAD DEANE ROAD (north side), SX 9070-9170 Stokeinteignhead Mole End, Dean Cottage and 17/365 Nos I and 2 Myrtle Cottages

4 adjoining houses. C18 or earlier. Plastered or rendered, cob and stone rubble; thatched roof, hipped at ends of main range; end stacks to main range, end stack to rear right wing. Plan: L plan, Nos. 1 and 2 Myrtle Cottages in a rear right wing, at right angles to Mole End and Dean Cottage, which front on to Deane Road Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2:3:1 window front, the eaves thatch eyebrowed over the 4 left hand first floor windows. Mole End, the left hand house, has a front door to the right with a thatched porch canopy on posts, a C20 timber door and C20 timber casements with square leaded panel. Dean Cottage is double-fronted with a C20 central front door with a glazed porch and 3-light C20 timber casements with glazing bars, the right hand end of the main block is No.2 Myrtle Cottages with 1 first floor and 1 ground floor 2-light timber casements with glazing bars. The right return has 3 first floor windows, a C20 front door and a single storey lean-to with a tiled roof. Interior: Not inspected at time of survey, but features of interest may survive and could necessitate revising the suggested dating.
