GV II
House. Divided into 2 dwellings. Probably C17. Whitewashed and rendered, probably cob and stone rubble; thatched roof, gabled at right end, hipped at left end; axial stack to right of centre, projecting right end stack with set-offs. Plan: Single depth plan, 3 rooms wide, the right end room now a separate house (Carlton Cottage), rear outshut with tiled roof to rear of Carlton House; single- storey flat-roofed rear addition to Carlton Cottage. Interior not inspected, therefore details of plan not seen at time of survey (1987). Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2:1 window front, Carlton House iwth a C20 front door in the centre, C20 front door to Carlton Cottage to the left. 3-light C20 timber casement windows with glazing bars except ground floor left to Carlton House which is a C19 canted bay window with small pane timber casements. Interior: Not inspected. Prominent in the centre of village.
