5/200 Haydon Cottage and attached - outbuilding II
House and adjoining outbuilding. Probably mid C17, thorough late C20 alterations. Colourwashed rendered cob and stone rubble ; thatched roof with plain ridge hipped at ends ; rear right lateral stack. Plan: 3 ranges round a central courtyard. The house faces south-east and has been extended into a converted linhay adjoining at the right angles to the front of the house. Former outbuilding, in use as a store, faces the house across the courtyard. Single depth house, very altered internally but of C17 origins, preserving its original roof structure. Exterior: 2 storeys, the former farmbuildings single-storey. Asymmetrical 3 window front. C20 aluminium, glazed front door to left of centre. 2-light small-pane casements, the first floor windows probably with C18 embrasures, the ground floor window probably C20. The former linhay has been glazed in, outbuilding opposite house partly open-fronted, with 3 open bays to the right. Interior: Modernized with C20 carpentry on the ground floor but preserving a probably C18 stair adjacent to the front wall. Roof: 2 side-pegged jointed crucks using both elm and oak.
