Barn immediately south of Brooklands
(Formerly listed as Barn immediately south of Brookside)

Barn, possibly a tithe barn. C17 or earlier. Whitewashed plastered cob and stone
rubble ; corrugated iron roof (formerly thatched), hipped at ends.
Plan: Adjacent to the churchyard, to the north-east of the church, parallel to the
track that leads to the lychgate in the north wall of the churchyard. Rectangular
on plan with a threshing loft, access to the loft from the track to the churchyard.
Access to the ground floor with a large doorway in the centre from the garden behind
Brookside.
Exterior: Impressively large seen from the east side which has a central doorway and
open-fronted lean-to at the left end.
The west elevation has a pair of large threshing doors with stone cheeks and
rudimentary slit windows without lintels.
Interior: The loft floor is supported on massive crossbeams with rough-hewn planks.
Roof: Structure not thoroughly inspected but appears to be a C20 replacement.
An unusually large barn adjacent to the church.
