GV
II

Former farmhouse. Early C19, possibly a remodelling of an earlier house.
Colourwashed plastered stone ; 2-span slate roof, gabled at ends ; end stacks to
front block, massive projecting right end stack to rear block.
Plan: Double depth plan, 2 rooms wide with a central passage from which the stair
rises axially between the 2 left hand rooms. Principal rooms to the front, kitchen
to rear right, service room to rear left. An additional single storey block
adjoining at the left has been remodelled in the 1970s as a 2-storey block. The
scale of the kitchen stack suggests that parts of the fabric of an earlier building
have been incorporated in the early C19 house.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front with a C20 central front door and
gabled porch ; canted bay windows to left and right (probably late C19) with 12-pane
sashes in the centre and 4-pane sashes with glazing bars in the outer lights. First
floor windows are 16-pane early C19 sashes.
Interior: Early C19 joinery. Open kichen fireplace with an iron lintel and remains
of a bread oven : evidence that it has been reduced in size.
Roof: King post and strut trusses with metal fixings.
An attractive early C19 house, visible from the road.
