Details

FENITON SY 19 NW 7/60 Saunders chest tomb approximately - 4.5 metres east of the chapel of the Church of St Andrew GV II

Chest tomb. Dated 1793 in memory of John Saunders. Hamstone ashlar. Chest tomb in rectangular in plan and sits on a moulded plinth. Its lid is soffit-moulded and has a low-pitched ridge along the top. All the sides have fielded panels and there are panelled pilasters each end of the long sides. The west end panel is inscribed, the first word in Gothic lettering, the rest in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. It records the death of John Saunders in 1793.
