6/9 Red Lion Hotel (formerly 29/9/52 listed as the Lion Inn)
GV II
Former Inn, now hotel. Early C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Brick on rubble plinth, hipped stone slate roof. Plan: 3 rooms wide by 2 deep, entrance off centre left, stack to right gable and to left in ridge (at junction of 4 rooms to left of building); mid-C18 extension to left, C20 extensions to rear. Asymmetrical facade balanced by slightly irregular fenestration. 2 storeys with band over each floor and dentilled cornice; attic lit by semi-circular headed window in central pediment and 2 flanking hipped dormers; 5 cross-light casements under segmental heads with keystones and rectangular leaded lights. Ground floor, from left to right: 2-light casement, 3-light casement, door with flat canopy on scrolled brackets, two 12-pane sashes.
