POWICK CP A 449 SO 85 SW 3/96 Cross House - II House. Early C19 with C17 and C16 remains. Painted brick and timber- framing with tile roof. Two storeys. South-west front has two cross- wings of one bay and a one-bay centre. The ground floor of the centre and the right-hand wing is covered by a single-storey extension. The left-hand wing has framing exposed in five rows of square panels. It has vertical struts between tie-beam and collar and is half-hipped above. The right-hand wing has timbering which is partly false, and a parapet. Chimneys on inside walls of wings. The left-hand return wall has a bow which contains sashes with glazing bars, and has a single-storey timber canted bay window. The return wall of the right-hand wing has earlier framing with a curved tension brace and a bracket to an underbuilt jetty at the rear. The framing was heightened and partly renewed, probably in the early C19, with timber of light scantling. The framing was probably re-exposed in the C20.
