6/100 Hill Farmhouse and adjoining barn
GV II
Farmhouse and adjoining barn. C17, altered C20. Timber-framed house with part wattle-and-daub, part painted brick infill, sandstone plinth and stacks, brick shafts, timber-framed adjoining barn with weatherboard cladding, tiled roofs. House of three framed bays aligned north/south facing east, main present entrance to west front, large external lateral stack to centre of west front, further large external stack to south gable end, minor C20 additions further to south. Barn of four framed bays and north of centre threshing floor adjoins to north. Two storeys, west front has irregular fenestration of one 2-light casement window and one single-light window flanking central stack; ground floor, one 2-light window and projecting window in angle formed by stack to left, 2-light window with segmental head to right of lean-to porch with ledged door. Framing is largely complete, three square panels from sill to wall-plate with angle bracing from main posts to wall-plate. Interior retains broad open fireplace recorded by RCHM in 1932. Adjoining four-bay barn altered to rear and included for group value.
