4/191 Barn and attached cow shelter about 20 yards south of Highnam Farmhouse
GV II
Barn. Probably late C18 to early C19. Coursed sandstone rubble, timber-frame with weatherboards and tiled roof. Five bays set at right angles to Highnam Farmhouse (qv). High plinth has two ventilation slits to either side of opposed cart entries, below weatherboarded upper zone and gables. Frame is one panel high to wall-plate. Interior has raking strut trusses. Cow shelter linking the barn with Highnam Farmhouse has rubble rear wall, two posts supporting front and tiled roof. The buildings form an upland farm group with Highnam Farmhouse. Included for group value.
