2/135 Langstone Court Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse range forming irregular courtyard and north-west of Langstone Court (qv) with which it formerly interlocked. C16 core to south wing, altered and extended C17 and mid-C19, altered C20. Timber-framed core, sandstone rubble refacing and later alterations and extensions, slate roofs. Earlier south wing with further wings to north, east and west, forming central courtyard, adjoins to north-west of Langstone Court to south-east. Entrance towards centre of south wing and further entrance toward centre of west wing, large axial stack, gable end stack and lateral stack to south wing. Single storey and attic, three windows in half dormers, two 2-light C20 glazing bar casements and 3-light casement to east, small window below eaves toward centre, French casements and two 3-light windows to ground floor, doorway to left of lateral stack with plain hood. C20 glazed door. West return: irregular fenestration broadly 1:1:3:1 windows, second and sixth in gable ends, 2-light casements, glazing bar sash window to ground floor of right (south) gable end, 3-light wooden mullioned window to ground floor of left gable end to left of doorway with cambered head, ledged door. Interior: altered, large open fireplace, section of south wing adjoining Langstone Court (qv) originally forming earlier core of house. Although interlinked with Langstone Court (qv) and indeed probably incorporating two bays of the earliest structure, Langstone Court Farmhouse is a distinct entity and appears from the C17 or early C18 to have been the agricultural wing of the big house to which it still forms an irregular service courtyard.
