Shown on OS as Court Farm. Farmhouse. Probably early C17, extensively remodelled 1665, with later alterations. Rubble, sandstone dressings, stone slate roof. H-plan, central part (floored hall) aligned north/south; hall and south crosswing 1665, north cross-wing probably early Cl7 remodelled 1665, extended west in late C17, with a further, single storey wing extending from this additions to the south, parallel to the ahll, both extensions providing service accommodation; stacks: east wall of south cross-wing, west wall of hall, south wall of service wing; blocked stack at east end of north wall of north cross-wing with adjoining spiral staircase; main staircase at south-east corner of hall. East front: balanced fapade, 2 storeys and attic; 2 full gabled dormers light attic over hall range, with C20, 2-light metal casements to left, 3-light C20 wooden casement to right, both with square labels; central boxed sash to first floor; to left C17, 3-light casement with ovolo mullions lighting staircase, to right on ground floor a C19, 3-segmental-headed light casement with square lable; central entrance with flat head, flat canopy above on stone brackets; battened and nail- studded door with ornamental strap hinges, head with 2 semi-circular arches cut in applied board. Left (south) cross-wing has cellar below; central stack with 2 diamond brick shafts; first floor: single light C20 casement to left, 2-light C17 casement with ovolo mullions to right, both with square labels; blocked window on ground floor to right. Right (north) cross-wing has C20, 2-light casement to attic; 3-light C20 casement to first and ground floor. Interior: late C17 staircase has open well, turned balusters, moulded string and handrail, and square newels with moulded pendants; hall has ovolo moulded ceiling beams supported on decorative stone brackets. Most of the internal doors in the house are late C17 with strap hinges, some have applied mouldings, for example the east of 2 doors in south wall of hall, both within moulded frames. There are some stud-and-plank partitions upstairs at the stairhead, but mostly reset in C19 and C20. Dated quoins on south-west and north-east corners of south wing: "WP/ 1665". WP stands for William Prosser, a London coachmaker who bought the estate in about 1655. He died in this house in 1674. This is an excellent example of a late C17 house, with a high degree of survival of original fittings. (Hereford and Worcester County Record Office F94, particularly /II/ 108; RCHM 1, p 214, pl 192.)
