2/36 Group of 4 memorials to the Williams family about 15 metres north-west of north porch of Church of St Mary
GV II
Four chest tombs. Early C19. Ashlar, arranged from south (1) to north (4). (1) Bold corner balusters, moulded cornice, bevelled top, slightly raised inscription panel. Inscription: "Sacred/ to the Memory of/ William Williams Senr/ of Westbrook/ in this Parish/ He died May 16th 1835/ Aged 77 Years". (2) As (1) but oval inscription panels with fluted spandrels. Inscription: "Sacred/ to the Memory of/ Priscilla Wife of / William Williams of Westbrook/ in this parish who died Feb 12th/ 1827 aged 74 years". (3) Corner pilasters decorated with rows of husks and paterae, moulded cornice, bevelled top, slightly raised inscription panel: "Sacred to the Memory of/ Elizabeth/ Daughter of William Williams/ of Westbrook in this Pairsh/ by Priscilla his Wife who died January 25th/ 1823/ aged 32 years/ [ 2 more lines ]". (4) Bold corner balusters decorated with springs of wheat, inscription panel framed by husks and paterae, moulded cornice, bevelled top. Inscription: "[Sacred to the Me]mory/ [of]/ Walter Williams/ of Dorstone in this County/ Gent/ Who died 19th of April/ 1808/ aged 39 years/ [ 2 more lines]". These are good examples of stone masonry and enhance the setting of the church; they contribute to the group value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
