Details

MUCH DEWCHURCH CP - SO 42 NE 9/96 Stables and out buildings attached to south-west of The Mynde GV II Stables, now store. C16, C17 and C18 with later alterations. Timber-frame with brick infill, brick, sandstone rubble and sandstone dressings. Rectangular plan projecting westwards from The Mynde (qv). Two storeys. North elevation has higher part to left with six windows, 2-light casements. Pedimented advanced part to left of right-hand casement has semi-circular carriage arch, clock, two moulded strings, owl holes and hexagonal bell turret with cupola and weathervane. Two doorways to left of archway, the left one with ogeed head, the right one with flat 2-centred chamfered head. Both doors have nail-studding and strap hinges. To the right of the archway is a lower range with sliding mid-C20 garage doors and a C17 strap hinged nail- studded door. South elevation has dentilled brick eaves cornice and another clock face above archway. Interior of archway has exposed timber-framing with brick nogging. Trusses have queen struts, king struts and in one case, curved struts from tie to principal. The western part has a raised roof indicating a mid-C18 remodelling of an earlier structure.
