Fortified house. Late C15 or early C16, altered in C17 and C18 and then again c1840, restored in mid-C20. Said to have been in the hands of the Mynors family, who still live there, since early C15, ie before any of the extant buildings. Circa 1840 alterations are in Tudor style. Square sandstone rubble, sandstone ashlar, render to upper C18 part of south-east tower, Welsh slate roofs. Square courtyard plan, the courtyard built over, with corner towers and tower porch on north front. Three storeys. North elevation has four windows between towers, the second window position from the left being occupied by the porch; sashes to ground floor with C20 glazing bar door to right hand side; first floor has square-headed windows of two round-headed lights except that to porch which has three lights; the top floor windows are similar to those of the first except that they are blind and shorter; tower porch is castellated and has 4-centred chamfered C16 outer and inner arches, reached by short flight of steps, to entrance; Interior: entry through porch formerly led to screens passage and hall which is now occupied by the kitchen; part of hammer-beam roof of hall survives in restored form though partly obscured by inserted floor; north-west ground floor room has late C17 plaster ceiling with elaborate oval panels; late C17 dog-leg staircase with twisted balusters at rear of former screens passage; c1840 staircase, in centre of former courtyard, leading up to small top floor gallery.
