2/54 Dovecot, ciderhouse and barn range about 2.2.81 25 yards east-north-east of Field's Place
GV II
Dovecot, ciderhouse and barn in three contiguous parts aligned east/west. Dovecot to west is C18, brick with stone slate pyramidal roof and similar roof to glover; square plan, south elevation has central ledged door under segmental arch; plat band and corners have regularly placed burnt headers, lozenge pattern in burnt headers to west and south sides above plat band. Ciderhouse in centre is mid-C19, brick with corrugated iron roof; one storey, south elevation has segmentally-headed window to right and doorway to left. Interior has cider press and mill. Barn to east is mid- to late C19 undergoing conversion, repair and restoration at time of survey (July 1985); brick, felt roof with central gable; south elevation has six symmetrically placed vent-slits to each side of segmentally-headed cart entry. Interior is sub-divided by breeze block partitions. Restored bargeboards to gable are scalloped with finials to apices. The barn is included for group value.
