- II
Parish church. 1878 by Arthur Blomfield. Rock-faced red sandstone with machine tile roof. Nave, north porch, chancel, south aisle, south chapel to chancel, tower in north-east angle between nave and chancel. Tower: three stages, upper stage octagonal with conical stone roof, each facet has a trefoiled lancet. Chancel: three bays divided by stepped buttresses on north-west, that to west filled by tower, windows are trefoiled lancets, east window: three stepped trefoiled lancets; nave: five bays, that to west containing stone north- porch, the others containing windows of 2:3:3:2 trefoiled lights under segmental pointed heads; south aisle has catslide roof with square-headed windows, south chapel of three bays with trefoiled lancets. Interior: reported to have wrought-iron screen; stained glass: east window probably by John Hardman. (BoE p 336).
