GV II

Farmhouse. C17 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations and additions. Timber- framed with brick infill on sandstone base; brick refacing, replacement walling and additions; machine-tiled roofs. L-plan; main part of two framed bays aligned north/south; large chimney with brick stack at south end; large inter- secting wing to south-east with large external chimney on south side. Single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate; short straight braces in upper corners; collar and tie-beam truss with three struts and V-strut in apex at north end. West front elevation: windows are all C20 casements; main part has a ground floor 2-light window and two gabled dormers with 2-light windows; original entrance to left of south bay has a C19 gabled timber porch with chamfered posts, a shallow pointed doorway and blocked C20 door. Gable end of wing to right has a 3-light ground floor window and an attic light; lean-to addition with catslide roof in angle with glazed C20 door at west end, a 6-light and a 4-light window in the angle with flat-roofed dormer above. Attic light in north gable end of main part. Interior: main ceiling beams are stop-chamfered, two large fireplaces and winder staircase in main part. A single-bay C19 addition adjoins the main south gable end, continuing the roofline and a lean-to addition encloses the chimney on the south side of the wing.
