Primary school. 1950. Hertfordshire County Council. Steel frame with precast concrete panels, set vertically and coloured panel infill, on Hills 8' 3" system, as modified by Hertfordshire County Council. Irregular plan with hall at core with kitchen and dining rooms on a line to the east. Two further limbs of single storey classrooms, including three low classrooms for infants, to south western arm and 5 taller classrooms to north-west for juniors, all in staggered arrangement. Horizontal strip windows of 3 bays per classroom, with coloured solid panels beneath, set in metal frames; overhanging eaves cornice. Interior contains three original murals by Pat Tew, a pair outside the hall and one in the dining room.

Awarded RIBA medal.
