SHEERING MILL LANE 1. 5253 (South Side) TL 4846 1467:3/73 No 129 II GV 2. 1851 enlarged 1870 (WEA III (1970) 5). White gault brick and slate roof. Former National School now in domestic use. 1 1/2 storey Gothic building at right angle to road with symmetrical front to E and single storey rear wing extension. Wide overhanging eaves carried on trefoil pierced wooden brackets. E front has central wooden door with 2 vertical panels and heavy frame under gabled slated hood on double scrolled wooden brackets, Gd floor windows are square headed under brick hood moulds with 2 light cast iron mullioned and transomed frames and cast iron diamond paned lattices. 2 windows in gable to road. Gd floor as E front. Upper similar without transom. 2 symmetrical rear lateral chimneys. 1 window in rear wing. Picturesque and well-preserved small early school building in C19 Gothic.
