FAIR GREEN 1. 5253 (South Side) Fair Green Lodge TL 4840 1470:3/47 6.6.52 II GV 2. Late C17/early C18, or earlier and remodelled. Large house facing W with N gable to street. Timberframed and plastered with rendered plinth. Steep old red tile roof hipped. Bellcast to eaves. Modillioned wooden eaves cornice. Gabled tiled dormers in N and E roof slopes. 2 storey and attics. N end has one window central on each floor. Flush box sashes with 6/6 panes. Diamond leaded glazing to 2 light dormer. Large central chimney with 3 engaged square shafts near the S end, and several lateral chimneys at rear (E) the largest near the N end. A number of 1 and 2 storey additions at rear with hipped tile or slate roofs and weatherboarded or plastered walls and C18 or C19 sash windows. Asymmetrical front to W with 3,2 storey bay windows with a single sash window between each. Flush box sashes with 4/4:6/6:4/4 panes to bays and 6/6 panes between. C19 porch with slender cast iron free standing columns,and pilasters and moulded flat hood. Half-glazed door. Fine entrance gate attached to NW corner of house. Projecting stucco piers with plinths and caps. Oak posts and ornamental oak gate with wrought iron side panels and overthrow and foliate iron panel set in gate.
