- II
Church. 1883-4 by H. R. Price; tower 1911 by Bird and Oldham. Rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs. Nave with clerestory, aisles, south-west tower and north porch; chancel with organ chamber and vestry. Victorian Gothic. Projecting plinth, sill band, coped gables with corner pinnacles and cross finials. Aisles have 2 cusped lancet window openings in each bay and a weathered buttress. The clerestory has 2-light windows with plate tracery. 4-stage tower with arched doorway in first stage, statue niche in second, 3 lancets in third, 2-light belfry opening and clock faces in fourth, weathered angle buttresses with gablets, castellated parapet and pinnacles, pyramid roof and spike with weather-cock. Polygonal apse with weathered buttresses. 2-light windows with geometrical tracery and corbelled eaves band. Organ chamber has large roof vent. Interior: double-chamfered nave arcade on polished granite columns with moulded capitals and bases. King-post roof trusses and timber boarded roof. Polished marble font and pulpit. Stained glass.
