Burnt House Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, now dwelling. Probably C17 but considerably modified in C19 and C20.
Rendered, asbestos-cement slate roofs, large external eaves stack right of central
gable. A composite building with lofty central block gable to road, and wings left
and right, plus lean-to extension at rear. Central unit, 2½ storeys with very steep
roof has 2-light casement over 3-light sash without bars over 4-light casement.
Wing left lower 2½ storey, with 1-windowed gable to south, all C20 casements, and
to left of this gable a porch with fine C19 plank door, part glazed. Slightly
canted exterior right is 2 storey, C20 windows. Interior has large bressummer fire
of extremely wide span with stopped chamfer beam. C19 turned baluster stair with
square newels, A-frame 2-purlin roof in rough timbers. At first floor is spiral
stair in cylindrical well.
