House, now 2 houses. C16, W part altered in late C17, E part largely rebuilt in C18. Timber frame roughcast. One and a half storeys W part thatched above an old red tile slope with 2 gabled tiled dormers. Higher 2 storeys E part (No 5) thatched with half-hip to E end and lower rear wing to NE. Fragmentary remains of a small open-hall house with 2 pairs of posts in No 4 formerly supporting tie-beams which were removed in late C17 when floor and chimney were inserted. They mark either a cross-passage, or a hearth bay. Framing in E wall has heavy curved tension braces with door position at S end, leading into No 5. S elevation to The Square, with central plank door to No 4 flanked by 2-light, flush small-paned casements and similar windows to 2 dormers over. No 5 now has no front door, and irregularly spaced flush casement windows (renewed) on each floor. Tall chimney in front slope roof. (RCHM Typescript).
