5/20 Mill bridge,
and sluice at Gatesbury
- (l0m to SSE of house)
GV II
Mill bridge, sluiceway extending to W, and sluice at the entry
from the mill pond to W. C18 or earlier. Red brick, timber
sluices with iron raising gear. Bridge and part of substructure
of a watermill, recorded in 1636 and demolished in 1906.
Miller's house remains to N qv. Bridge has parabolic downstream
arch, and brick parapets which splay outwards and sweep down to
each side. Picturesque adjunct to house. (Branch Johnson (1970)
161).
