II House. Early C17, altered in later C17. Timber frame on brick plinth. Plastered. Steep half-hipped roof now of pantiles. One and a half storeys, 2 unit, lobby-entry, central-chimney plan house facing S. Large red brick chimney of conjoined square shafts, 1/3 from W end. Plank door in broad frame with small flat hood on brackets, in front of chimney. Lean-to roofed dormer to right of stack. 2-light windows: to dormer, below dormer, to left of door, and upright narrow window to each end. Attic window in E gable. Cross-girder beam projects through front wall with clench peg. Interior has separate straight stairs at each end, brick oven with iron door in kitchen fireplace, axial chamfered beams, small parlour at E end with chamfered and stopped joists and bar-stopped axial beam. Tension braces in N wall and wind-braces to clasped-purlin roof. W part of roof rebuilt in later C17 with butt-purlin construction. Formerly The Cat and Fiddle PH.
