1/14 Junior House at St Edmund's College (RC) (formerly listed as part of The 24.1.67 Old Hall under St Edmund's RC College, Old Hall Green).
GV II
House, now a school building. Circa 1630, side wings c1759, S wing internally rebuilt 1973. Red brick in English-bond with steep old red tile roofs. 2 storeys and attics, U-plan house with 2 wings and recessed centre, facing W. Symmetrical front with stucco-faced plinth, curved central gable with a circular window, 2 recessed sash windows on 1st floor with 6/6 panes under flat arches. On ground floor 2 similar windows flank a central boarded door with wooden doorcase of Tuscan pilasters, with a Doric entablature of paterae between triglyphs with a triangular modillioned pediment. Projecting wings with one window to courtyard and one to the front. Moulded gable parapets with corbelled kneelers and chimneys at the apex. 3 diagonal shafts on the right, 2 on the left. Corresponding gables to the rear with casement 3-light windows at 3 levels (the topmost with lattice leaded lights). Large projecting central rear chimney with upper engaged shafts forming a Y-plan. C20 matching single- storey tiled rear lean-to as new entrance from school.
