Lych Gate to churchyard of Church of St. Martin

Lychgate. Circa 1900, presumably by Thomas Carter architect for church
of that date q.v. Oak with steep old red tile roof. A small open
structure with 2 sill-beams, wallplates, and ridge N-S. 2 wide-spaced
chamfered posts to each side set in from corners with convex braces down
to sill beam at corner and 2 cusped curved braces to wallplate from each
post. Longer curved braces from posts support a cambered collar to the
2nd rafter in from each end with a wooden cross as infill. Moulded
bargeboards to each end. Sinkings for gate-fixings on posts nearer road.
Yorkstone threshold on roadside. Included for group value.
