8/58 Maydencroft Cottage - - II

House. C17 or earlier, C18 brick casing, late C20 E extension. Timber frame, roughcast front and painted brick casing. Steep old red tile roof. A 2-storeys house, set back a little from road, facing N. 3-cells plan with massive chimney stack on S side of middle bay. Later projecting W gable chimney. Eastern third a 2-windows wide matching extension. The older part has 3-windows to each floor and entrance between left hand two. 2-lights cast iron lattice casements to 1st floor and 3-lights to ground floor. Plank door under LH half of hipped tile twin porch with double-curved brackets. (RCHM Typescript: inf Mrs. Rance).
