Restuarant incorporating 2 timberframed barns of C17-18, moved in 1971-2 from Old Knebworth (not formerly listed). The barns are set at right angles in a modern weatherboarded group with plain tile roofs. The Manor Barn on the E side is the older one, probably dating to the first half of the C17. 5 bays. Clasped purlin roof. Straight wind braces. Slightly curved braces to heavy tie beams. The Lodge Barn is later C17 or early C18. Aisled construction. 6 bays. Gabled cart entrances on W side. Queen strut roof. Aisle posts on tall modern brick piers. Braced ties to side walls.
