Details
REEDNESS MAIN STREET SE 72 SE (south side, off) 5/37 The Old Manor - II House. Early C18 with later alterations. Brick, partly rendered and colour-washed. Pantile roof. Originally L-shaped on plan: surviving section represents 3-room south front with lobby entry to left; 2-room wing to rear right demolished c1950. 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Moulded plinth. Step to C20 half-glazed door in original opening with wooden architrave beneath brick flat arch, flanked by single C20 windows in original openings beneath segmental arches. Inserted entrance to right with steps to C20 door beneath segmental arch. First floor: C20 casements in original segmental-headed openings; small casement to left. Corbelled brick eaves. Stone-coped gable with shaped kneeler to left, roof hipped to right. Axial stack. Rear (facing street) has lobby entry with 6-fielded-panel door and C20 casements in segmental-headed openings. Interior. Original details include: good moulded wooden cornice and spine beam to ground floor left; fielded-panel dado with moulded skirting to ground floor centre; exposed joists to kitchen, ground floor right; 6-fielded-panel doors and window shutters in panelled reveals and architraves. Cellar beneath kitchen, entered from rear, contains reused timber wall-posts, rails and studs to support plaster floor above.
