House. Mid C18 origins, with considerable late C18 and later extensions to left, right, and rear. Brick, stuccoed and colour-washed, stone dressings, timber eaves cornices, graduated slate roof. Original L-shaped range of c1740: 2 storeys, 4 bays with rear wing to right. Rusticated quoins. Extended in late C18 by addition of 2-storey canted bays to end walls of main range; rear wing extended and canted bay added c1800: re-entrant angle between main range and rear wing partly infilled in early C19 and squared off with a block of c1884. Original main elevation: projecting square C19 porch with C20 glazed door in architrave with triple keyblock in bracketed surround flanked by narrow round-headed windows. Cornice and blocking course. To right, a tripartite sash with glazing bars in pilastered surround, to left a late C19 canted bay with sashes with glazing bars. First floor: 4 sashes with glazing bars and sills in moulded architraves. Bracketed timber eaves cornice, axial stack, hipped roof over later canted bays. Garden (east) front: (the original rear wing) 2 storeys, 9 first- floor windows. Ground floor: central C20 glazed door under fanlight with radial glazing. To left, 2-storey canted bay with central round-headed sash with glazing bars flanked by 12-pane sashes, all with sills; to the right, a projecting wing of c1800 with canted bay to the garden side. Central French window with fanlight with radial glazing flanked by full-height sashes with glazing bars. First floor: sashes with sills and glazing bars throughout. Bracketed timber eaves cornice, hipped roofs, end stacks. Present entrance (west) front: irregular elevation. Double-leaf glazed entrance door under elliptical fanlight with radial glazing in panelled reveals and soffit. Tuscan porch with paired columns and entablature with low blocking course. To right, a 12-pane sash with sill; 2 similar sashes to left. Oriel window over door: pair of sashes with glazing bars to left. To left is the block of 1884, almost self-contained: 2 storeys, 4 bays. Plinth, moulded sill band. 4 sashes with glazing bars with segmental gauged brick arches with projecting fluted keyblocks. First-floor band; 4 similar sashes, with aprons, to first floor. Dentilled eaves cornice, hipped roof, end stack. Interior: the interior has been largely modernised but still retains a fine mid C18 cut-string stair with vase balusters and ramped and wreathed moulded handrail. 2 rooms have good early C19 plaster cornices: one of them has a contemporary plaster ceiling.
