House and garden walls. Mid C18. Red brick and concrete tile roof, stone
coping to garden walls. 2 storeys, 2 x 2 bays. C20 porch extension with
sash with glazing bars to right beneath Diocletian window with sashes with
glazing bars. Dentilled brick eaves cornice, pyramidal roof, central stack.
The rear elevation of the cottage bears a tablet with guttae and the
inscription:
RUS AMAT, ET RAMOS
FELICIA POMA
FERENTES
(He loves the countryside and boughs bearing apples in plenty)
The attached walls, which are coped, are those of the former kitchen garden
to the demolished Kilnwick Hall - an area of almost 2 acres. N.M.R Photograph.
