1/27 Ice House 100 metres north of Normanby Hall -

GV II

Ice house. 1817 for Sir Robert Sheffield. Brick entrance tunnel and chamber roof on whitewashed coursed ironstone rubble base, covered with earth. Circular ice chamber has domed roof and arched tunnel with short curvilinear brick walls flanking the segmental-arched entrance, now blocked with iron railings. The whole structure is contained in an earth mound approximately 10 metres diameter and up to 5 metres higher than surrounding ground level.
