Details

LITTLEHAM SS42SW 6/128 Hollands II Farmhouse, made into 4 cottages in early C19 and now house. Mid/late C17, including earlier C17 one-unit plan to left; late C18/early C19 wing, formerly a cottage, projects to front left. Colourwashed render over cob and stone; gabled thatch roof; left end external stack of stone finished in C19 brick; right end external stack of rendered stone; truncated stone ridge stack. One-unit plan extended to right in mid/late C17 to 3-unit plan with stair-well projection to rear. 2 storeys; 3-window range. C20 thatched porch, with plank door, to right of centre. Flat rendered arches over C20 two-light casements. Wing projecting to front left, of one storey and attic, also has C20 casements. C19 dairy outshut adjoins stair-well projection with C19 casement to rear. Interior: old joists to all rooms; chamfered ogee-stopped beam to centre. Open fireplace with reset chamfered bressummer (from demolished central fireplace) to left; chamfered roll-stopped bressummer over open fireplace in room to right. C19 winder stairs to rear. Roof has two C17 A-frame trusses to centre: each has ridge purlin set diagonally in notched apex, cambered collar and butt purlins with through-splayed scarf joints; similar truss of lighter scantling to right.
