Details

INWARDLEIGH SX 59 NW 9/138 Eastacombe Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C16 with C19 or C20 addition and C20 alterations. Rubble and cob walls, rendered at the front. Corrugated iron roof gabled to the right and hipped to the left. Brick axial stack and projecting rendered rubble stack at right gable end. Plan: originally 3-room and through passage plan, lower end to the left. Small hall has stack backing onto the passage and projecting 2 storey window bay at the front. Inner room may have been lengthened in C18. In C20 it was divided into 2 and a small room created between it and the hall with passage at the rear. Lower room rebuilt in C19 or C20. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front with gabled hall bay projecting to left of centre. C20 2-light casements on first floor and ground floor centre, mid-late C20 leaded pane casement to ground floor of hall bay and similar C20 French window to right. C20 panelled door to left of hall bay. Beyond it to the left is a C20 leanto. Interior: pointed 4-centred chamfered wooden doorframe from hall to inner room. Chamfered half beam above it. Roof trusses probably C19 or C20 - the feet of insubstantial straight rafters are visible on the first floor.
