Country house. C18; remodelled and extended in circa 1930. Stuccoed brick. Slate hipped
roofs with lead rolled hips and ridge and parapet with moulded cornice. Stuccoed axial stacks
with cornices. PLAN: The original C18 house is a rectangular 3-storey block at the north west
end, probably originally with its main front facing north east. It was extended to the south east
and south west in the C20. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. North east front: 3 bays to right, of sashes
with glazing bars, probably many windows blocked; built out in C20 at ground floor with
glazed colonade and central porch; C20 3-bay extension projects on left with three sashes on
ground floor and three bullseyes with festoons above. North west side 5 bays of sashes,
round-headed central window, blind second floor right and large 2-storey bowed bay on left.
South west elevation: 3:3:4:2 staggered bays of sashes, all with glazing bars, large single-storey
canted bay on left and 2-storey canted bay to right of centre; to left of centre a 3-bay arcade on
ground floor. Service wing on south east side. INTERIOR: some C19 joinery on the first and
attic floors. C18 pannelling in the first floor room to south.The remainder mainly C20 and reusing
earlier fabric such as C17 pannelling and staircase balustrade.
