7/90 Stairhill Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Late C16-early C17, remodelled in C19. Plastered cob on rubble footings; volcanic stone stack with brick chimney shaft; thatched roof L-shaped building. South facing main block was originally built as a 3-room-and-through- passage house with inner room at west end (left of front). Front lateral stack to hall and full height cob partition between hall and inner room. In C19 service end was demolished and service block built to rear of passage and hall. 2 storeys. 3- window front of C20 2-light casements with large stone buttress left of centre and door at right end behind a C20 glass and weatherboarded porch. Roof gabled to left, hipped to right. Side elevation has late C19-early C20 2-window front with door at left end behind C20 conservatory. Inside hall has chamfered cross beam with late step stops and large volcanic ashlar fireplace with its oak lintel similarly finished. Roof inaccessible.
