SX 79 SW DREWSTEIGNTON DREWSTEIGNTON

5/102 Mudge headstone approximately 12 metres east of Chancel of Church of the Holy Trinity GV II

Headstone. Dated 1830 in memory of Thomas Mudge. Slate. Upright slab standing approximately 900mm high with shaped head, round head with acroteria. The acroteria are carved with flames and the rest has a simple border of repeated intersecting arcs. The head is carved with decorative scrollwork over the first word Sacred which is inscribed in Gothic lettering. The rest of the inscription is Roman upper and lower case lettering and records the death of Thomas Mudge in 1830.
