TOFT C.P. (Off) GARLANDS HOLLOW, SJ 77 NE HOLMES CHAPEL ROAD 2/107 House c. 35 yards to north west of Redbroke Hall, Peover Superior -
- II
House, formerly farmhouse. Mid/Late C17 with C19 additions and alterations. Red English garden wall bond brick and timber frame with whitewashed infill and slate roof. Entrance front: 4 x 3 cells of small framing to right hand side on stone plinth with angle brace to corner. Further row of 4 cells above these indicating raising of roof line. Two-light window at left. Brick walling to left with two casements of 2-lights with splayed heads and C19 gabled dormers above these. Outhouse with corner roof line to left with two single-light casement windows. C20 lean-to right. Right-hand gable end: Queen-post truss to gable with angle and arched braces. New purlins inserted in C19 when building re-roofed at shallower incline. Rear: 4 x 3 cells of small framing to left with 4 more cells above as an entrance front. One ground floor 2-light casement window. 3, 2 and 3-light casement windows to right. One 2-light casement window to first floor left.
