Details

COLDRIDGE SS 70 NW 2/6 - Hawkridge Bridge II

Road bridge over River Taw. Late C18-early C19. Local mudstone rubble with squared but not ashlar voussoirs; C20 softwood railings provide a parapet. Small humpback bridge comprising a single segmental arch with voussoirs around. Originally there was no parapet but in C20 timber railings have been provided. Such small humpback bridges without parapets are both uncommon and attractive.
