5/35 Cleave Farmhouse - - II
Farmhouse. C17, with C19 alterations. Rendered stone rubble. Slate roof with gable end stone rubble stacks with brick shafts and axial brick stack. 3-room and cross-passage plan, lower end to right, the hall stack backing onto the cross-passage. In C19 the hall was divided axially to create a rear passage, and a front doorway created into the inner room. Leanto porch at lower right gable end and continuous outshut to rear. 2 storeys. 4-window range. Left side has C20 fenestration, 2-light over 3-light windows flanking C19 6-panelled door. Right side has C19 fenestration with two 12- paned hornless sashes above C20 door to left of 16-paned sash and 12-paned window. Interior: Axial ovolo moulded ceiling beams to hall and inner room. Inner room fireplace has ovolo moulded timber lintel. C19 chimneypiece to hall. Roughly chamfered cross ceiling beam to lower end.
