7/95 Huntsham Court Lodge -


Lodge at main entrance to Huntsham Court (q.v.). Circa 1870, possibly by Benjamin Ferrey who built Huntsham Court for C.A.W. Troyte, 1868-1870. Snecked grey limestone with Ham Hill stone dressing; red tiled roof, gabled at ends; projecting left end stack to front block, end stack to rear wing, both with stone shafts. Plan: L plan with Gothic details to match Huntsham Court; 1 principal room at the front, entrance on front at right, rear service room. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 1 window front with a Ham Hill stone wallplate. C20 front door to right with 2-centred arched stone doorway with a heavy roll moulding. Canted bay window to the left has stone mullioned lights with chamfered mullions; similar 2-light mullioned window in gabled dormer above. The left and right returns are complete with mullioned windows, gabled dormer to left return, attic dormer to right return. Plain 2-centred arched rear doorway. Interior: 2 co-eval chimneypieces and contemporary joinery survives. Group value with main gateway to Huntsham Court.
