NEWTON ST CYRES WEST TOWN SX 89 NE 5/52 Barn and stables - adjoining to north-east of Halses GV II Barn and adjoining stables. Both late C18-C19 Barn is cob on stone footings with plastered front; corrugated-iron roof replacing thatch. Faces road to east.Nearly-central double-doors flanked by sloping buttresses. Small and plain, C20 wooden-mullioned window high to right and lancet in right gable- end. Part floored for hayloft with roof of halved timbers. Stables adjoin at right angles to rear meeting left front corner of Halses (q.v.). Cob back wall, timber-framed front to Halses front garden. 3-bay frame; 2-storeys. Weather-boarded on ground-floor, open above. Both included for group value.
