NEWTON ST CYRES THE VILLAGE SX 89 NE 5/28 Summerhouse in Newton House - Arboretum - II Summerhouse in garden of Newton House (not listed). Early or mid-Cl9. Timber with thatched roof. Rustic Gothic style. 9-sided with conical roof supported on colonnade of 9 rustic oak posts. All the exposed timber retains its bark and peices of oak bole are used for decoration. The 9-sided room has pointed arch door and 2 unglazed arched windows and is clad with a vertical herringbone arrangement of halved birch branches which is carried up into the ceiling. The cobbled floor echoes the herringbone pattern. Similarly treated bench around the rear and central 9-sided table.
