House, partly divided to form a post office early C20, now all one house again.
Early C18, C19 alteration, including refenestration and leanto at rear. Rubble
and cob, rendered and colourwashed, wheat straw-thatched roof gabled ends, tall
brick axial stack to right with offsets with corrugated iron.
Plan: 2 rooms on ground floor with direct entry into hall to right, heated by the
gable-end stack, unheated service room to left with early C20 door opening inserted
to form direct access. C19 leanto at rear.
Exterior: 2 storeys, almost symmetrical, 2 window range, C19 2-light casements
with glazing bars, except C19 shop window of 12-panes to left of ground floor. 2
door openings to centre side by side, to left plank door, to right late C20 half-
glazed door. Thatched eaves run down at rear over a lean-to, no window openings.
Interior: hall with blocked gable-end fireplace with C20 gate. Lateral ceiling
beam with run-out stops. Service room with early C20 post office fittings including
counter with grille and telephone booth, quite an unusual survival. First floor
featureless.
Roof: with trusses with lapped pegged collars, probably early C18.
Prominent roadside position at the road entrance to Meshaw.
