6/36 Hatchland Bridge Cottages - - II

House divided into two cottages. Circa C17 with C18 wing. Slate rubble. Asbestos slate half-hipped roof with heightened eaves. North east wing to right has hipped slate roof. Two room plan with stack and cross-wing at higher gable end. The wing is probably rebuilding of hall and higher end of what was originally a three room and across or through passage plan. Semi-circular stair turret in rear angle with cross-wing. Rendered ridge stack at junction with wing and another at side of wing. Two storeys. Three window range with projecting C18 cross-wing at right (north east) end. C20 casements. Two plank doors with slated hoods. Interior: Two chamfered ceiling beams with ogee stops. Fireplace blocked. Newel stairs with timber treads. Two timber door frames on first floor with ovolo moulds and step stops to jambs. Door in cross-wing made from two large planks and covermoulds and with wrought iron hinges. Roof space not inspected but probably has C18 roof structure.
